ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking into a new device designed to help doctors detect air leaks from the lungs, a condition known as pneumothorax. The device is a gas analyzer that can be attached to a chest drain, which is a tube used to remove air or fluid from around the lungs. By measuring gases like carbon dioxide and oxygen, this analyzer aims to provide important information that can help diagnose and treat air leaks more effectively than just relying on visual bubbles in the water seal of the drain.
To participate in this trial, patients need to be scheduled for thoracic surgery and expect to have a chest tube placed afterward. Participants must be over 18 years old and capable of giving informed consent, but if someone cannot sign for themselves, a legally appointed representative can do it for them. However, patients who are pregnant, have unstable health conditions, or are minors will not be eligible to join. This study is currently not recruiting participants yet, but it aims to improve care for those dealing with lung air leaks.
