ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial, titled "Nutrition and Clinical Outcomes in IBD," is looking at how nutrition and body composition affect the health of patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. The researchers want to understand if better nutritional status can lead to improved health outcomes for patients undergoing advanced medical treatments or surgeries for their IBD. They will compare different ways to screen for undernutrition and examine how nutrition and muscle mass relate to patient recovery and overall health.

To be eligible for this study, participants must be 16 years or older and have IBD that is either starting a new advanced treatment or undergoing surgery related to their condition. The study is observational, meaning there are no experimental treatments or invasive procedures involved—participants will simply have their nutritional status checked before treatment and again at their follow-up visits as part of standard care. This study is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to gather important information that could help improve care for people with IBD in the future.
