ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying three different types of surgical connections known as distal arteriovenous fistulas (AVF). These connections are important for patients who need dialysis, as they provide access to blood vessels for treatment. The trial aims to find out which type of fistula is the best choice for patients, comparing a standard fistula (SBAVF), a radial-cephalic fistula (RCAVF), and a radial-cephalic fistula that includes a patch to help with blood flow (RCAVF with venous branch patch). Currently, there isn't clear guidance on which type to use first, so the researchers hope to provide more information on this.
To participate in the trial, individuals must be over 18 years old and have chronic kidney disease with very low kidney function. However, people with certain heart conditions or those who have had recent serious health issues may not be eligible. If someone decides to join, they can expect to undergo the procedure and be monitored to see how well the fistula works over time. This is a great opportunity to contribute to research that could help improve treatment options for future dialysis patients.
