ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how warming patients before and after surgery can help prevent hypothermia, which is a dangerously low body temperature. Many patients arrive in the recovery room feeling cold, and this can lead to serious problems like increased bleeding, infections, and heart issues. The goal of the study is to see if extending the warming process beyond just the operating room can improve patients' temperatures and reduce complications related to being cold.
To participate in this trial, patients need to be between the ages of 65 and 74 and undergoing a specific type of surgery called laparoscopic visceral surgery, which is done under general anesthesia. Unfortunately, those having emergency surgeries, those with existing infections, or those who already have a set discharge time from the recovery room cannot take part. If eligible, participants can expect to receive additional warming measures before and after their surgery, and the study will monitor their temperature and any related side effects during recovery.
