ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the risk factors and effects of a complication called tracheal phlegmon in patients who undergo a procedure known as percutaneous tracheostomy, which is often done in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The researchers want to find out how common this complication is and what factors might increase the chances of developing it. They are also interested in how having tracheal phlegmon affects the length of time patients spend in the ICU and the hospital, as well as their overall health and quality of life.

To be eligible for the study, participants must be over 18 years old and need a tracheostomy. They will be monitored for 7 days after the procedure to check for any signs of phlegmon. Additionally, their health-related quality of life will be evaluated two years later. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and anyone interested should consider discussing it with their healthcare provider for more information.
