ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how a condition called central sensitization affects pain and recovery after total knee joint replacement surgery in patients with knee osteoarthritis. Central sensitization means that the nervous system might be more reactive to pain signals, which can lead to more intense pain. The researchers want to see if patients with this condition experience different levels of pain and functional ability, both before and after their surgery, compared to those without central sensitization.

To participate in this study, you need to be between 60 and 75 years old and have a primary diagnosis of knee osteoarthritis, which means your knee pain is not caused by another condition. You should also be planning to have knee replacement surgery. However, if you have other health issues, such as certain uncontrolled diseases or if you’re planning a revision surgery, you won't be eligible. If you join the study, you'll be evaluated for your pain and how well you can use your knee before and after the surgery, helping researchers understand the impact of central sensitization on recovery.
