ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a complication called an anastomotic leak that can occur after surgery on the right side of the colon. The trial is collecting information from patients who have had elective surgeries, either open or laparoscopic (a less invasive method using small incisions), for both benign (non-cancerous) and malignant (cancerous) conditions. Researchers will gather data from seven hospitals in Austria over a period from January 2010 to December 2019 to understand more about this issue and how it affects recovery.
To participate in this study, patients need to be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have undergone elective surgery on the right side of their colon. Unfortunately, patients who had emergency surgery will not be eligible. Those who do take part can expect their medical information to be reviewed, helping researchers learn more about the risks and outcomes of the surgery. This research aims to improve patient care and reduce complications in future surgeries.
