ClinConnect Summary
The SECS clinical trial is looking at the differences between women and men who have heart surgery. Researchers want to understand how factors like body weight, health history, and how the body reacts to medications and blood transfusions can affect the outcomes of surgery. They will track patients' health in the short term (up to 30 days after surgery) and longer term (up to one year) to see how these factors influence recovery and overall health.
To participate in this study, you must be at least 18 years old and have undergone cardiac surgery at a specific hospital between January 1998 and June 2021. There are no other specific exclusions, which means many people may qualify. If you join the trial, you will help researchers learn important information that could improve care for future cardiac surgery patients.
