ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the bacteria found in the throat of patients with respiratory infections, particularly in children aged 0 to 20 years. Researchers want to understand how the balance of these bacteria—known as microbiota—can affect the severity and frequency of respiratory illnesses, like colds, pharyngitis, and pneumonia. By analyzing the bacteria present during these infections, the study aims to improve our understanding of why some infections occur more frequently and how inappropriate use of antibiotics might contribute to ongoing health issues.
To participate in this trial, children must show signs of an acute respiratory infection, but they cannot have taken antibiotics or certain other treatments in the past month or two. Participants will help researchers gather important information that could lead to better treatments and prevention strategies for respiratory infections in the future. It's important to note that this study is not yet recruiting participants, so it may take some time before it begins.
