ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the levels of specific proteins in saliva that may help diagnose different types of gum disease, including healthy gums, gingivitis (inflammation of the gums), and periodontitis (more severe gum disease). The researchers want to see if measuring these proteins, called cytokines, can provide reliable information about a person's gum health. By comparing saliva samples from 60 individuals with varying gum conditions, the study aims to find out if these markers can be used to distinguish between healthy gums and those affected by gum disease.
To be eligible for this study, participants should be generally healthy adults aged 18 and older who have at least 20 permanent teeth. They must not be smokers and should not be taking certain medications or have had recent dental treatments. If you decide to participate, you will undergo a simple examination of your gums and provide saliva samples. Your participation could help researchers better understand how to diagnose and treat gum diseases in the future.
