ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a technique called low-flow anesthesia in children who are having strabismus surgery, which is an eye operation to correct misalignment. The goal of the study is to see if using a lower amount of anesthetic gas (called sevoflurane) can reduce a common problem known as emergence agitation, where children may feel restless, confused, or upset as they wake up from anesthesia. Previous studies have shown that children often experience this agitation after surgery, especially for eye procedures, and this trial aims to find a better way to manage it.
The trial is looking for children between the ages of 3 and 10 years who are scheduled for strabismus surgery. However, children with certain health conditions, such as heart disease, kidney or liver problems, or developmental delays, will not be eligible to participate. If your child takes part in the study, they will receive anesthesia using a lower flow of gas, and researchers will carefully observe how this affects their recovery. This could lead to improved comfort and a better experience after surgery for many children.
