ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the best timing for Spontaneous Breathing Trials (SBTs) in adults who are on mechanical ventilation in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). SBTs are tests that help determine if a patient is ready to breathe on their own without the assistance of a ventilator. In this study, patients will be divided into two groups: one group will have their SBT in the early morning, while the other group will have it later in the morning. The goal is to see which timing helps patients recover faster and more safely from needing ventilator support.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be adults aged 21 or older who have been on mechanical ventilation for more than 48 hours and have already completed at least one SBT. Unfortunately, patients who were intubated at other hospitals, those who had surgery-related intubation, those on certain advanced life support (like VV-ECMO), or those with a tracheostomy cannot participate. If you join the trial, you will be closely monitored to see how the timing of the SBT affects your recovery and how long you need to stay on the ventilator. This research aims to improve care for ventilated patients in the ICU.
