ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how well a device called the Air-Q laryngeal mask airway (LMA) works for patients of different ages during surgery, specifically focusing on those who may face complications after anesthesia. Researchers want to see if age affects the effectiveness of this airway device, as older adults may have different airway structures compared to younger individuals. The study is currently recruiting participants aged 18 to 85 who are in good health (classified as American Society of Anesthesiologist Physical Status I-III) and are scheduled for elective surgery requiring general anesthesia.
To participate, individuals should not have certain conditions that could complicate their airway management, such as a very high body mass index (BMI) or a history of serious respiratory issues. If you join the trial, you'll be monitored closely during your surgery to assess how well the Air-Q device works and to identify any complications related to its use. It's an opportunity to contribute to important research that could improve anesthesia care for patients of all ages.
