ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a new way to help people who struggle with social anxiety, which is a fear of social situations. The study is testing a method called "positive mental rehearsal" after participants take part in a training session designed to expose them to social interactions. The goal is to see if this additional mental practice can improve their anxiety symptoms. Participants will be evaluated one week later to see how effective the training was in reducing their anxiety.
To be eligible for this trial, individuals should be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have a high score on a specific anxiety scale, indicating significant social anxiety. However, those currently receiving mental health treatment, planning to start treatment soon, having suicidal thoughts, or with severe health conditions will not be able to participate. If you or someone you know fits this description and is interested in learning more about managing social anxiety, this study might be a good opportunity to consider.
