ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how quickly two types of EEG (electroencephalogram) tests can provide important information for children who are suspected to be experiencing status epilepticus, which is a prolonged seizure lasting more than 5 minutes. The standard EEG test currently takes a long time to set up and read, often delaying treatment. This study compares a quicker method called Rapid Response EEG (RR-EEG) to the traditional Continuous EEG (cEEG) to see if RR-EEG can deliver faster results and if it is just as effective in detecting seizures.
Children who are admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) with suspected status epilepticus may be eligible for this study. There are no specific exclusions, meaning most children who meet the inclusion criteria can participate. If enrolled, participants can expect their EEG to be monitored to help identify any seizures more quickly, which is crucial for timely treatment and improving their outcomes. This trial is currently recruiting and aims to improve care for children experiencing these serious medical events.
