ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Frailty and Functional Ability in Alzheimer's," aims to understand how frailty— a condition that often affects older adults— relates to the ability to perform daily tasks in people with Alzheimer's disease. Researchers believe that individuals who are frail may experience more significant difficulties in daily activities compared to those who are not frail. The study will also look at how frailty might affect the need for long-term care in the future.
To participate in this study, individuals must be at least 65 years old, diagnosed with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease, and able to walk independently for at least 5 meters (with the help of walking aids if needed). Participants will undergo various assessments at the start of the study and again after one year, with follow-ups for up to five years. This research is focused on people living at home, and it is important that they have a caregiver or someone who can help them throughout the trial. This study is not currently recruiting participants, but it is an opportunity to contribute to important research that could improve understanding and care for those with Alzheimer's.
