ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is designed to compare two treatment methods for children with medium-sized kidney stones, specifically those measuring between 10 and 20 millimeters. The trial will look at how effective a technique called Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery (RIRS) is compared to a smaller version of a procedure called Mini Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (mini PCNL). Both methods aim to help children pass or remove these stones safely and effectively.
To be eligible for the trial, children must be 12 years old or younger and have certain health conditions that are not too severe. For instance, they should not have any bleeding disorders, active infections, or specific kidney shape issues. Parents will need to give their permission for their child to participate. While the trial is not yet recruiting participants, if it starts, families can expect to be informed about the procedures and what their child will go through during the study. This trial is important as it may help determine the best way to treat kidney stones in young patients, ensuring they receive the most effective care.
