ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at the muscles between the ribs, called the parasternal intercostal muscles, in patients who have had a stroke. The goal is to see how these muscles are working and whether their function relates to breathing tests that measure lung performance. By understanding these connections, researchers hope to find better ways to help stroke patients with their breathing and recovery.
To participate in the study, you need to be an adult who has had either an ischemic (caused by a blockage) or hemorrhagic (caused by bleeding) stroke for more than six months. You should also have a good score on a simple mental test, indicating you can understand instructions well. The trial is not open to those with certain lung diseases, recent surgeries, or other serious muscle conditions. If you decide to join, you can expect to undergo some non-invasive tests that involve ultrasound to look at your muscle function, all while being closely monitored by the research team.
