Palliative Care Hospice Medical Icu

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how having a hospice and palliative care specialist in the medical intensive care unit (MICU) can improve the care of patients with critical illnesses. The specialist will provide support based on patient needs and their likelihood of recovery, helping to ensure that patients receive timely and compassionate care. Researchers will compare the health outcomes of patients who receive this extra support with those in a nearby ICU and those treated in the past, to see if this approach leads to better results in managing their conditions and overall quality of life.

To participate in this study, patients must be at least 18 years old and admitted to the MICU at a major hospital. There are no specific exclusions, meaning almost anyone admitted to this unit could be eligible. If you or a loved one is admitted to the MICU, you can expect to receive care from this dedicated palliative care practitioner, who is there to help improve comfort and support during a challenging time. The study is currently looking for participants, and your involvement could help shape future care for critically ill patients.
