ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring whether a community-based sailing program can help improve the resilience and overall well-being of school-aged children with autism. The researchers want to see if taking part in sailing activities can enhance the children's quality of life, self-esteem, and social skills, and reduce feelings of depression. To find out, they will compare the effects of the sailing program with a control group that receives different attention but does not go sailing.
To be eligible for this study, children must be between 7 and 12 years old, have a confirmed diagnosis of autism, and be enrolled in a school that supports inclusive education. They also need to be able to communicate and complete questionnaires in Chinese. Over four days, participants will join in sailing sessions for a total of 16 hours. It’s important to note that children with prior sailing experience or severe motion sickness will not be included in the trial. This is a great opportunity for children to engage in a new activity while potentially gaining valuable skills and experiences!
