ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how giving antibiotics before surgery might help reduce the risk of infections in patients who are having surgery to repair a groin hernia. A groin hernia occurs when tissue pushes through a weak spot in the abdominal muscles, and this trial focuses on patients who are at higher risk of complications, such as those who are elderly, have diabetes, are obese, or have weakened immune systems.
To be eligible for the trial, participants need to be over 60 years old and meet one of the other health criteria mentioned, like having diabetes or being significantly overweight. If someone decides to join, they can expect regular follow-ups to monitor their health throughout the study. It's important to know that the trial is currently looking for volunteers, and participation could help improve surgical outcomes for people with similar health concerns in the future.
