ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating the effects of two different treatments—probiotics and activated charcoal—on patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who are experiencing severe itching, known as uremic pruritus. The goal is to see which treatment is more effective and safe for relieving this uncomfortable symptom. The study will collect important information about participants, including their age, weight, medical history, and laboratory test results, over a period of four weeks.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be adults aged 18 and older who have uremic pruritus. However, those with certain skin conditions like psoriasis or who are undergoing dialysis cannot join. During the study, participants will receive either probiotics or activated charcoal and will be asked to provide feedback on their itching and quality of life. The trial is not yet recruiting, so there will be more information available soon for those interested in participating.
