ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how "cool roofs," which are special coatings that reflect sunlight, can help improve health in communities facing extreme heat. By keeping homes cooler, researchers hope to see positive effects on heart health, sleep quality, and physical activity among people living in urban areas with high temperatures. The trial will use smartwatches to track things like heart rate, steps taken, and sleep patterns in four different locations: Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso, Hermosillo in Mexico, Ahmedabad in India, and Niue in Oceania.
To participate, individuals should be permanent residents of their households and be willing to wear a smartwatch. However, those living in homes with damaged roofs or who cannot provide consent will not be eligible. In Mexico and Niue, participants also need to have a smartphone with internet access that can connect to the smartwatch. Each household can only have one participant in the study. If you're interested in how simple changes in housing could lead to better health, this study could be a great opportunity to contribute to important research!
