ClinConnect Summary
The Oxford Virtual Autism Assessment Tool (OVAAT) clinical trial is looking to evaluate a new tool designed to help diagnose Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in young people. Researchers want to see if this tool can accurately identify autistic traits in individuals and tell the difference between those who are autistic and those who are not. They will also compare the OVAAT with another established tool called ADOS-2 to see which one works better in spotting signs of autism.
To participate in the trial, young people aged 13 to 18 who are either waiting for an autism assessment or are healthy without any neurodevelopmental or mental health conditions can apply. Participants will need to have access to a laptop or desktop computer and a quiet space to complete the assessment. It's important to note that those with existing mental health issues or certain other conditions cannot participate. If you join, you can expect to take part in an assessment that will help researchers understand how effective this new tool is. Your involvement could play a part in improving autism diagnosis for future generations.
