ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called the Peer Group Connection - Middle School (PGC-MS), is studying whether a specific program can help prevent teen pregnancy by delaying the start of sexual activity among middle school students. The trial will compare two groups of students: one group will participate in the PGC-MS program, which offers support and information during their transition into middle school, while the other group will continue with regular classes that do not include any sexual health education.
To be eligible for this study, students must be entering 6th or 7th grade for the first time at a participating school and need permission from their parents to take part. They should be able to complete a short questionnaire in English or Spanish. Participants in the program can expect to learn and discuss important topics with their peers over the school year, while those in the control group will continue with their usual classes without additional sexual health information. The goal is to see how the PGC-MS program might influence the students' decisions regarding sexual activity over the following 16 months.
