ClinConnect Summary
The TRECO trial is studying a new way to help children with obesity by using a method called time-restricted eating (TRE). Instead of counting calories, TRE involves eating meals within a specific 12-hour window each day. The researchers want to find out if this approach is better for losing weight compared to the traditional calorie-restricted diet (CRD). They will also check if kids find it easier to stick to the TRE plan than the CRD over the course of 48 weeks.
To participate in the study, children aged 8 to 17 with obesity, measured by a higher-than-normal body mass index (BMI), may be eligible. Participants will follow either the TRE or CRD diet, visit the clinic for checkups every few weeks, and keep a diary of their food, exercise, and any symptoms. It's important to note that some children may not qualify for the trial, such as those who have certain health conditions or are currently using specific medications. This study aims to discover effective and manageable ways to help children achieve a healthier weight.
