ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how well a specific blood test, called the anion gap, can help doctors predict the risk of death in patients who have a condition known as acute pulmonary embolism (PE). A pulmonary embolism occurs when a blood clot blocks a blood vessel in the lungs, which can be very serious. Researchers will gather information from hospital records of patients diagnosed with PE using a CT scan. They will look at various details, like the patients' age, symptoms, lab results, and CT scan findings to understand the relationship between the anion gap and patient outcomes.
To participate in this study, individuals must be between 18 and 70 years old and have been diagnosed with acute pulmonary embolism. However, patients with certain heart and lung conditions, kidney disease, or infections like sepsis will not be eligible to join. Those who take part can expect their medical information to be reviewed and analyzed to see how useful the anion gap is in predicting outcomes for PE patients. This research could provide important insights into improving care for those with this serious condition.
