ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), a condition where stomach acid frequently flows back into the esophagus, causing symptoms like heartburn and regurgitation. The researchers aim to understand the patterns and risk factors related to GERD in Xiamen City. They want to learn more about how GERD affects people and the potential risks, including a serious condition called Barrett's Esophagus, which can lead to cancer if left untreated.
To participate in this trial, you should be a permanent resident of Xiamen and have experienced typical GERD symptoms, such as mild heartburn or regurgitation, at least twice a week for the last three months. Participants will need to undergo an upper endoscopy (a procedure to examine the esophagus) and fill out a questionnaire. It’s important to note that certain individuals, like those with severe health issues or previous stomach surgery, may not be eligible to join. If you decide to participate, you will be helping researchers gather important information that could improve the understanding and treatment of GERD.
