ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a special type of surgery called secondary alveolar bone grafting (SABG) aimed at helping children with a condition known as an alveolar cleft. An alveolar cleft is a gap in the upper jaw that can affect how teeth grow and align. The trial is looking at a new method that uses a piece of bone from the back of the mouth to help fix this gap. The goal is to provide a stable foundation for the jaw, allowing teeth to come in properly and making future dental treatments easier.
To participate in the trial, children aged 8 to 15 with a unilateral (one-sided) maxillary alveolar cleft can apply, as long as they are generally healthy and maintain good oral hygiene. However, children with certain conditions, such as infections in the jaw or those who have had previous unsuccessful surgeries for their cleft, will not be eligible. If enrolled, participants can expect to undergo the bone grafting procedure and will be monitored for how well it helps their jaw and teeth development. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it could provide important insights into improving treatment for children with alveolar clefts.
