ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating the effects of two types of specialized nutrition on patients with Crohn's disease (CD) who are preparing for bowel surgery. The study will compare semi-elemental nutrition, which is easier to digest, with polymeric nutrition, which is more complex. Researchers want to understand which type of nutrition is more effective and safer for patients before they undergo surgery.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be between 18 to 65 years old, have a diagnosis of Crohn's disease, and be scheduled for elective bowel surgery. They should also be experiencing malnutrition or significant symptoms related to their condition. Those who have had emergency surgery, cannot tolerate special nutrition, or have certain medical histories will not be able to participate. If you join the study, you will receive one of the two types of nutrition to help prepare your body for surgery, and your progress will be monitored throughout the process.
