ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a new program called Youth Culturally Adapted Manually Assisted brief psychological intervention (YCMAP) to help prevent self-harm in young people with autism in Pakistan. The trial aims to see if this program is easy to use and if young people find it helpful. Participants will be divided into two groups: one group will receive the YCMAP program along with regular treatment, while the other group will receive only the regular treatment. The YCMAP program consists of 8 to 10 sessions over three months, where participants will meet individually with a trained professional.

To participate, individuals must be between 18 and 24 years old, have a history of self-harm or suicidal thoughts, and be able to engage in the program. Unfortunately, those with limited language skills or certain medical conditions may not be eligible. Participants will have their progress checked at the beginning of the trial and again after three months. This trial is important because it aims to develop culturally appropriate support for young people facing these challenges, ensuring that their unique backgrounds and experiences are considered.
