ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying chronic pain that some women experience after having a mastectomy, which is a surgery to remove one or both breasts, often due to breast cancer. The researchers want to understand what factors, like a woman’s age, type of treatment, and any pain she felt before surgery, might increase the chances of developing this ongoing pain. By learning more about these factors, the hope is to find better ways to prevent this pain and improve treatment options for women who go through this surgery.
To participate in the study, women aged 18 to 80 who are planning to have elective mastectomy surgery and meet certain health criteria can join. Participants will need to agree to take part in the study and sign a consent form. Those who are pregnant, have a history of substance abuse, or have certain medical conditions may not be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect to provide information about your health and experience, which will help researchers understand and hopefully reduce chronic pain following mastectomy.
