Registers Severe And Enduring Eating Disorders

ClinConnect Summary

The U-SEED clinical trial is focused on understanding severe and long-lasting eating disorders, like anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge-eating disorder. The researchers want to identify both biological and psychological factors that might make people more likely to develop these types of eating disorders. They will look at information from patients who received care for eating disorders at Uppsala University Hospital between 2005 and 2007 and compare it with a new group of adults who have been struggling with severe eating disorders for at least seven years. Participants will complete questionnaires, provide blood samples, and share their experiences with their symptoms and the care they have received.

To participate, individuals need to be at least 18 years old, have had eating disorder symptoms that significantly impact their lives for seven years or more, and have tried at least one evidence-based treatment without long-term improvement. It's important to note that those in immediate danger or unable to respond to questions in Swedish cannot take part. This study aims to help improve understanding and treatment of severe eating disorders by examining the connections between different factors and how they affect people's symptoms and daily lives.
