ClinConnect Summary

The HemodynamECMOnitoring-VA Study is a clinical trial that aims to improve how doctors monitor blood flow and heart function in patients who are receiving a treatment called venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA ECMO). This treatment helps supply oxygen-rich blood to vital organs when a person's heart or lungs are not working properly. The study will test the accuracy of different monitoring devices to see how well they work in this specific situation, as the artificial circulation used in ECMO may affect their performance.

To participate in this study, patients must be between 18 and 75 years old and currently receiving VA ECMO support. However, pregnant individuals and those with certain medical conditions, like recent trauma that prevents movement, cannot participate. If eligible, participants can expect to have their heart and blood flow monitored using various methods during their ECMO treatment. This research is important because it could lead to better care and outcomes for patients undergoing this life-saving procedure.
