ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is comparing two different surgical techniques for repairing inguinal hernias, which are a common type of hernia found in the groin area. The two methods being studied are the Lichtenstein technique, which uses a mesh to support the area, and the modified Guarnieri-Desarda technique, which does not use mesh. The goal is to see which method results in less pain after surgery, fewer complications like infections or fluid buildup, and whether either technique affects the blood flow and size of the testicles.
To participate in this study, men aged 18 and older with a simple inguinal hernia may be eligible, as long as they can provide consent to join. However, those with complex hernias, previous surgeries in the same area, or other specific conditions won’t be able to take part. If you join the trial, you’ll have the opportunity to help researchers learn more about these surgical options while receiving care for your hernia.
