ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how different types of resistance exercise affect blood flow and muscle function in both young and older adults. As we age, our muscles can become weaker, making everyday activities like walking or climbing stairs more challenging. The trial will compare two types of resistance training: one that includes blood flow restriction (using bands to limit blood flow) and another that is high-intensity without restriction. Researchers want to see how these exercises impact the blood vessels and overall muscle performance, especially in older participants.
To participate, individuals must be between 18-30 years old or over 60 years old. However, those with certain health issues, such as heart disease or recent surgeries, or who are very active already, may not be eligible. Participants will take part in three sessions where they will learn about the exercises and then engage in the workouts, with measurements taken to assess their heart and blood vessel responses before and after the exercises. This study aims to understand the best ways to help older adults maintain their muscle strength and overall health as they age.
