ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on understanding how children with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) respond to treatment. DKA is a serious condition that can happen when diabetes is not well managed, causing a dangerous buildup of acids in the blood. The study will monitor how well the treatment works by checking important health indicators like blood sugar levels and electrolytes, which are minerals in the body that help with many functions. Researchers are also looking out for complications that can arise during treatment, such as brain swelling or kidney problems.
To participate in this trial, children ages 1 to 16 who are hospitalized with DKA may be eligible. However, those with certain other health conditions, like severe liver or kidney problems, or a history of cancer, cannot take part. Since the trial is not yet open for enrollment, it’s a good time for families to learn about this important research that aims to improve care for children facing this serious condition. Participants can expect close monitoring and care as part of the study, helping researchers learn how to better treat DKA in the future.
