Robot Assisted Laparoscopic Inguinal Hernia Repair

ClinConnect Summary

The SetUp Study is looking at how long it takes to perform a specific type of surgery called robotic-assisted laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair using the HugoTM RAS system. This study will involve the first 50 patients who undergo this surgery to see if the time needed for the procedure changes as the surgeon becomes more experienced. The researchers will also compare this group to another 50 patients who received the same type of surgery but with a different robotic system called the daVinci Xi.

To participate in this study, you need to be between 65 and 74 years old and scheduled for a minimally invasive hernia repair surgery. The study will include people with both single and double hernias. However, if you've had previous hernia repairs with specific complications, are pregnant, or are younger than 18, you won't be eligible to join. If you decide to participate, you'll help researchers learn more about how this new robotic system works and how it compares to existing technology in hernia repairs.
