ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how people move around their communities and how that affects the spread of dengue, a mosquito-borne disease. Researchers noticed that during the COVID-19 pandemic, when people were restricted in their movements, the number of dengue cases dropped significantly. This suggests that current models for predicting dengue outbreaks may not accurately consider how humans move and interact. In this pilot study taking place in Cienfuegos, Cuba, the team will analyze past dengue outbreaks and collect detailed information about where people go during the day, particularly in areas where dengue is often found. The goal is to improve the way we understand and predict dengue outbreaks, which will help public health officials develop better strategies to prevent and control these diseases.
To participate in the study, individuals need to be residents of the specific community being studied, be at least 19 years old, and be willing to give consent. People aged 75 and older are not eligible for this study. Participants can expect to take part in a mobility survey that collects information about their daily movements and interactions. This study aims to provide valuable insights that can improve disease prevention efforts in the future.
