ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a special system designed to recover blood during heart surgeries in order to reduce the need for patients to receive donated blood. It specifically focuses on patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) or valve surgery, which are common types of heart surgeries. The goal is to see if using this blood recovery system can help patients maintain their own blood levels and avoid the risks associated with receiving blood from donors.
To participate in the trial, patients must be between the ages of 65 and 74 and scheduled for one of the specified heart surgeries. However, some patients will not be eligible, including those who need emergency surgery, have had previous heart surgery, or have certain health conditions that make them unable to receive a blood transfusion. If you join the trial, you can expect to be monitored closely during your surgery and will have the opportunity to contribute to important research that could improve care for future heart surgery patients.
