ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether special staplers, called reinforced staplers, can help prevent a common problem after lung surgery known as Prolonged Air Leak (PAL). PAL can lead to longer hospital stays and more complications, so finding effective ways to reduce it is important. The trial will compare reinforced staplers, which are designed to make the staple line stronger, to regular staplers in patients undergoing a specific type of lung surgery called fissureless lobectomy for lung cancer.
To participate in this study, patients need to be at least 18 years old and scheduled for a fissureless lobectomy due to lung cancer. However, those who have had previous lung surgery on the same side or are undergoing the surgery for reasons other than lung cancer will not be eligible. If you join this trial, you can expect to have your surgery with either type of stapler, and researchers will monitor your recovery to see which stapler works better at preventing air leaks. This research is important for improving care and outcomes for lung cancer patients.
