ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how well muscle strength in the shoulder, measured by a special tool, can predict whether athletes will be able to return to their sports after undergoing a specific shoulder surgery called the open Latarjet procedure. This surgery is often performed on athletes who have experienced dislocations in their shoulder joint. While many athletes do return to playing sports after this surgery, a significant number do not perform at the same level they did before their injury. This study aims to find out the strength levels that athletes need to recover in order to return to their pre-injury performance.

To be eligible for this trial, participants must be between 18 and 45 years old and have experienced a shoulder injury while playing sports, specifically a dislocation or subluxation of the shoulder. They should also have a healthy shoulder on the opposite side and be scheduled for the open Latarjet surgery at the Santy Orthopedic Center in Lyon. Healthy volunteers who regularly engage in sports can also join the study, provided they meet certain criteria. Participants will undergo strength assessments and will be closely monitored during their recovery process. This trial is important as it hopes to improve rehabilitation strategies for athletes recovering from shoulder surgery, ultimately helping them return to their sport safely and effectively.
