ClinConnect Summary

This study is testing a computer-based tool built into the clinics’ electronic records to help HIV programs keep people from missing appointments and to improve how well HIV is controlled. The system looks at patient data to flag people at higher risk of missing a visit or having higher HIV viral load, and it helps clinic staff reach out earlier. The tool will be rolled out in several AMPATH clinics in Eldoret, Kenya in a stepped, or phased, way over about six months, so some clinics start sooner and others later, with all clinics eventually using it.

Who can be involved: adults 18 and older who receive HIV care through AMPATH in Eldoret. There is no separate patient signup for the study—the research uses routine care data from participating clinics. If your clinic is assigned to use the tool, staff may use the risk signals to contact patients who are at higher risk of missing visits and to provide help to stay in care. The main goals are to see if this approach reduces missed visits and improves the proportion of patients with suppressed HIV viral load. The study is ongoing and results are not yet available, with an estimated completion in late 2026.
