ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying two different surgical treatments for adults suffering from recurrent acute tonsillitis, which is when you have repeated episodes of sore throat and fever due to swollen tonsils. The two procedures being compared are tonsillectomy (where the tonsils are completely removed) and tonsillotomy (where only part of the tonsils are removed). Researchers want to find out if tonsillotomy is just as effective as tonsillectomy but causes less pain and fewer complications.

To participate in this trial, you need to be an adult aged 15 or older who has had many episodes of tonsillitis over the past year or two. You should be able to understand Danish, as the study involves communication in that language. If you join, you will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatment groups and will be followed for a year to see how many sore throat episodes you have, how your quality of life improves, and how much pain you experience after surgery. This trial could help improve treatment options for tonsillitis while reducing discomfort and risks for patients.
