ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different surgical methods to treat a specific type of eye condition called rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD), which happens when there are tears in the retina that can lead to vision loss. The trial aims to compare a new technique using a foldable capsular scleral buckle (FCSB) with a standard procedure called vitrectomy, to see which method is safer and more effective for patients with medium-complexity retinal detachments.
To be eligible for the trial, participants should have one or more retinal holes that are too large or complex to be treated with a simple silicone sponge or band. However, those with simpler forms of retinal detachment or other serious eye conditions, like severe cataracts, will not be included. If you qualify and decide to participate, you can expect to undergo one of the two surgical procedures and will be monitored for safety and effectiveness. This trial is not yet recruiting patients, but it’s important to know that it aims to improve treatment options for people facing this eye condition.
