ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating the timing of a procedure called tracheostomy in patients with Guillain-Barre Syndrome who need help breathing with a machine (mechanical ventilation). The study aims to find out if performing a tracheostomy early, rather than later, can help patients spend less time on the ventilator and in the hospital, as well as possibly reduce the risk of death.
To be eligible for the trial, participants must be between 18 and 99 years old, have been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) with Guillain-Barre Syndrome, and require mechanical ventilation and tracheostomy during their stay. The trial is not yet recruiting participants, so if someone meets these criteria, they may have the opportunity to join once the study begins. Participants can expect to help researchers learn more about the best timing for tracheostomy, which could improve care for future patients with this condition.
