Recovery Gait Physical Exercise Pilot Study Stroke Hemiparesis Walking

ClinConnect Summary

The BOOST GAIT trial is studying whether a special therapy program can help improve walking and daily activities for patients who have had a stroke and still have some ability to walk. The program includes extra therapy sessions over four weeks, where small groups of patients work with physiotherapists on exercises that focus on standing, stepping, and walking. The goal is to help patients regain a more normal walking pattern, which may make it easier for them to move around safely in their everyday lives.

To participate in this study, you need to be at least 18 years old and have had a first-time stroke within the last three months. You should also be receiving rehabilitation at Jessa hospital in Herk-de-Stad and have some basic balance and mobility skills. During the trial, you'll receive additional therapy on top of your usual care, and the researchers will track your progress using special sensors to see how well you’re moving. This study is still recruiting participants, and while it involves a small group for now, the information gathered will help plan a larger study in the future.
