ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at the effects of a medication called dexamethasone when used with a specific type of pain relief called an erector spinal plane block during surgery for scoliosis in children. The goal is to see if this combination can help manage pain better and for a longer time after surgery. Scoliosis is a condition where the spine curves abnormally, and this trial focuses on patients aged 10 to 18 who are scheduled for surgery to correct this issue.
If your child is between the ages of 10 and 18 and is having surgery for idiopathic scoliosis, they may be eligible to participate in this trial. However, there are some important criteria to consider; for instance, children younger than 10 or those with certain health conditions, like infections or bleeding disorders, cannot join. Participants in the trial will receive the standard care for pain management, along with the study treatment, and they will be monitored to see how well it works. This research could help improve pain management for future patients undergoing similar surgeries.
