ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is exploring whether fully online therapy can be as effective as traditional in-person treatments for young people dealing with mental health issues like depression, anxiety, and trauma. The study will focus on two specific types of therapy: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). With increasing waiting times for mental health care, especially for youth, the goal is to see if online therapy can help fill this gap and provide a convenient option for young people who are comfortable with digital communication.

To participate in this study, you must be an adolescent between 12 and 18 years old who could benefit from either EMDR or ACT, as determined by a mental health professional. Participants should be stable, meaning they are not facing a serious crisis, and must be able to understand and complete questionnaires in Dutch. It's important to note that those in crisis or receiving forced care cannot join the study. If eligible, participants can expect to engage in therapy sessions online, allowing them to receive support from the comfort of their own homes. The findings from this research aim to help shape future guidelines for online mental health treatment for young people in the Netherlands.
