ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how different types of patient education can help people who are about to have bariatric surgery improve their drinking habits and oral hygiene. After bariatric surgery, many patients face challenges with their oral health, possibly due to changes in their bodies and eating patterns. The study aims to find out which of three educational methods is most effective: information provided on a website, education from a healthcare provider, or free dental hygiene products. Researchers will look at how much participants learn, their drinking habits, their feelings about their oral health, and how well they take care of their teeth.
To be eligible for the study, participants must be candidates for bariatric surgery at a hospital in Norway. Unfortunately, those who have language difficulties or cannot give consent will not be able to join. If you qualify and decide to participate, you'll receive one of the educational methods and help the researchers learn how to better support future patients in taking care of their oral health after surgery.
